Climate in Kanyakumari

           Kanyakumari has a moderate climate all through the year. Summers (March to May) are pleasant here with sea breeze blowing and have a atmospheric temperature range of 22°C to 35°C. Winters (December to February) are very pleasant with a mercury level of 21°C to 34°C. June to September months are monsoons with medium to heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms.
              Cape festival, during October, is celebrated for three days with many cultural programs and is very attractive. Tourists can ferry to Vivekananda rock when the sea is calm and the atmosphere is sunny.
         It can be visit all through the year, but the best season is from October to March.

Which is the best season to visit Kanyakumari?

        Monsoon tides in Kanyakumari is awesome if you are a rain lover... otherwise winter is the best. Winter as the weather will be pleasant (I hope it is pleasant in winter because in TN, there is hardly any winter).

       I love rain and personally it is a good experience to stand drenched on the beach under an over case sky with gusty wind on your face. But if you are travelling with you family, the problems will outweigh the fun...

About Nagercoil

The district has the highest literacy rate in Tamil Nadu (88.11). Some schools and colleges in Nagercoil are more than 150 years old, like the Scott Christian College, built by British missionaries. European missionaries, in the 19th century and early 20th century played a major role in imparting education to the people of the town and district.

One of the oldest regular schools in South India, Sethu Lakshmi Bai Higher Secondary School,  is situated in the heart of town. It was established under the supervision of the Travancore administrators and named after a Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, the Queen of Travancore between 1924 to 1931. Another school which was named after a Travancore ruler is Sri Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma Higher Secondary School.

Educational institutions include privately funded engineering colleges, the state-run Kanyakumari Government Medical College (at Asaripallam near Nagercoil), and many polytechnic colleges and arts and science colleges. As in neighbouring Kerala, women's education and career-development are given importance.
