How To Make Pizza?

Pizza is one of the most popular dishes around the world. It is generally a flat round bread which is oven-baked and covered with tomatoes or a tomato-based sauce and mozzarella cheese. Toppings are also added depending on the region, culture or personal preference. In this article, we will be learning how to make a pizza at home.

The basic steps in pizza making are first preparing dough, then pizza sauce. After that, cheese and toppings are added according to taste and then the pizza is baked in an oven. This seems to be simple while reading but preparing a good mouth watering pizza at home drains in a lot of hard work. However, you will be able to make pizza at home easily using this step-by-step guide.

                                                                   

Let's start from the scratch.

Making Pizza Dough

Dough making has been known to humans since ages now, but mastering the art to make perfect pizza dough can be a bit cumbersome sometimes. At home, Pizza dough is prepared by hands, no special machinery is required. However to prepare hand-made dough you will need to have a large mixing bowl, a measuring cup, measuring spoons, a large whisk or wooden mixing spoon and some kitchen film before you start. It will be better if you also keep a small hand towel ready before starting the process.

Ingredients:

1 - 1/4 Oz Envelope - Active dry yeast, (or 2 1/4 Tsp)
1 1/2 Cups - Warm water (110°F - 115°F)
4 Cups - Bread flour
1 1/2 Tsp. - Salt
2 Tbsp. - Extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp. - Sugar
Extra flour
Extra olive oil

Process

Pour the warm water in a large mixing bowl, then add the sugar and dissolve it. Next, dissolve the yeast by stirring continuously after addition. Allow the mixture to settle down for 10 minutes or extra so that the yeast becomes active.

Now add the yeast and olive oil, when the appearance of the mixture becomes foamy and cloudy at the surface. Dissolve it continuous stirring. Then add 3 cups of flour to the mixture one-by-one and whisk in until dissolved completely. Make sure the mixture is completely smooth. Use your hands to combine the dough until all of the dry flour has moistened into a mass.

When the flour has absorbed all of the moisture and congealed into a firm mass, remove it from the bowl to a floured tabletop to need it. Fold it in half again and push it into itself, again and again for perhaps 10 to 12 minutes or so, or about 200 cycles. It is very important that the dough is very well kneaded.

After kneading is complete, when dough transforms into a silky, smoothly-textured ball, coat the dough ball with a thin layer of olive oil. After that place it in the bottom of a large mixing bowl that has also been coated on the inside with olive oil.

Now comes the step on panning the prepared pizza dough. One of the most demanding of the pizza maker's many challenges is getting the raw pizza dough ball into a pizza pan. The panning of pizza can be done by various methods as per your convenience. The popular methods are Pizza dough sheeting, pizza dough pressing, hand tossing pizza dough- do it only if you don't get hazy when catching, hand pressing pizza dough, and last is pin rolling pizza dough.

Making Pizza Sauce

Normally at home, we recommend using tomato sauce only which is lightly herbed with oregano and basil. Some pizza lovers prefer to have even simpler sauce than this, however tomato sauce is the simplest to prepare at home.

Ingredients:

3 Tbsp. - Butter
16 Oz. - Can of tomato puree
3 Tbsp. - Olive Oil
1 Tsp. - Salt
3 Cloves - Garlic, minced
1/4 Tsp. - Black Pepper
3 Large - Yellow onions, minced
1 Tsp. - Whole oregano
2 Qts. - Canned whole Italian tomatoes
1 Tsp. - Whole basil 

 Process

Melt the butter with olive oil in an oven or large skillet. Now slowly but completely sauté the garlic and onion. Then add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, basil and puree. Boil it.

Cover the mixture and let it bubble for two hours. In between, stir it occasionally. Crush the tomatoes with the masher. Continue the process till the sauce reaches the consistency of a soup.
Set the sauce aside to cool before applying it to your pizza dough, or, or refrigerate it for use in the future.

Pizza Topping

Ladle about 7 to 8 oz. of pizza sauce into the middle, bottom of the dough shell. Spread the sauce evenly over the surface of the dough sheet. Spoon the sauce out to the edge of the dough sheet. Leave a small margin on the outer-side of the dough sheet, which allows the crust to rise and crisp more quickly than the covered dough; creating the classic, puffed up edge of the pizza.
Now create a layer of the shredded cheese over the sauce. Shred about two cups of cheese. Arrange your toppings over this layer of cheese.

Add toppings according to your preference.

Baking the Pizza

 Preheat your oven up-to the temperature of 450° F for about 10 to 15 minutes. When preheating is done, place a prepped pizza in the oven at the centre. Place the pan in the oven such as there is maximum circulation of air around the pan. The baking will take about 10-15 minutes at that temperature.

Signs to look for that the pizza is ready are:
1)The cheese has melted on top and is beginning to brown.
2) The crust edge has browned, from a medium to a golden brown.
3) Now carefully lift the edge of the pizza to inspect its bottom, it should be evenly brown.
If these signs are evident, your pizza's done! Thus now you are ready to throw regular pizza parties of your home made pizza to your friends and family.

           Japan adores being ahead of the whole world, its people will never get tired of these constant creations and inventions. This time, the Japanese-inventors tossed a challenge to our Mother Nature. Actually, their cool beach is just a huge Ocean Dome (approximately 6 football pitches, it can house 10,000 tourists), that allows everybody to lie on the artificial beach, among artificial palm-trees and enjoy the sound of artificial tide.  The real beach is only 300 meters away and it looks really lonely, since if failed to win in this extremely stiff competition.

Ocean Dome is situated on Japan’s southernmost Kyushu Island, 1,500 kilometers south of Tokyo. It has an 85-metre long shoreline and many shops. There are a lot of attractions on this beach:

• the weather is always great, sunny and warm;
• lush green tropical forests without rainfalls and humidity but with parrots songs;
• nice, white beach with crushed marble pebbles without any bugs and sun burns;
• chlorinated salt-free water;
• every 15 minutes the volcano becomes active and every hour it produces fire;
• incredible waves for surfers;

    The fee is rather expensive – more than $50 for adults, plus various entertainments. Many visitors are pleased with such a beach; they considered it to be clean, modern and safe.

The beauty of the Bay of Bengal can be best viewed and enjoyed from the sandy shores of Tamil Nadu. The southernmost state of India has a very long coast line of 910 km having Bay of Bengal on the east and Indian Ocean on the south. Tamil Nadu possesses the southernmost tip of Peninsular India at Kanyakumari. When we think about the beaches in Tamil Nadu, the two main ones which come to our mind are Marina Beach in Chennai and Kanyakumari. But there are also a couple of other lovely beaches which delights our mind.

Marina Beach

The golden sandy shore of Marina Beach serves as a major getaway for the busy metropolitans of Chennai. It is one among the most populous cities in India and the long seafront of this city is enhanced by a couple of beautiful blue beaches. Marina beach is mostly a crowded beach and one among the longest beaches in Asia having a wide stretch of 13 km. The beach promenade is beautified by stone statues of famous personalities including Bharathiyaar, Mahatma Gandhi, Kannagi, Thiruvalluvar, M.G.R, Sivaji Ganeshan, C.N Annadurai etc. A major attraction among these statues is the statue of Triumph of Labor. This entire stretch known as the Kamarajar Salai, houses lots of monuments and historic buildings, most of them built by British. Evening time, the beach is filled up with shops, food stalls and entertainment. Pony rides, kite flying, parasailing, gliding and surfing are activities which attract people of all ages. Lover’s spot, aquarium, small parks, beautiful fountains, light house, MGR memorial, Anna memorial, Ice House, Chepauk Palace and University of Madras are other attractions in the long stretch of the lovely beach. Adorned by green lawn, there is a jogger’s track and tourists get a best view of sunrise from this beach. The Light house at the southern end gives a panoramic view of the Chennai city but it is open only for two hours from 2pm to 4pm. As there are lots of activities and sightseeing in this beach, tourists visiting the capital city Chennai certainly visit this enthralling beach. Marina beach is very much in the city, so getting there is an easy task.

Kanyakumari Beach

                                           

Kanyakumari is also known as ‘The Land’s End’ which is otherwise the southernmost tip of India. It is a holy place where the three great water bodies meet; i.e., the confluence of the great Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. This point is known as ‘Thriveni Sangamam’. Kanyakumari is one among the most popular tourist destinations in India famous for its enchanting sunrise and sunset. On a full moon day we can see the lovely moon rising from Bay of Bengal and the sun setting in the Arabian Sea. Kanyakumari is the only place in India where you can view both the sunset and sunrise from the sea. The sunrise can be viewed throughout the year but to see the mesmerizing sunset one has to visit during October till March. There are sea viewing hotels in the town where they arrange a special view point for both sun rise and sunset. The main attraction in Kanyakumari beach is the Thriveni Sangamam point where there is a bathing place. People believe that bathing in this place in the sea water absolves their sins. The sea shore in Kanyakumari is mostly rocky and has multicolored sand with shells scattered all over. A boat ride to the Vivekananda rock is the main attraction of Kanyakumari. The Thiruvalluvar statue in the Vivekananda rock is one of the biggest statues in Asia. The lighted Vivekananda rock and the Thiruvalluvar statue in the dark sea after the sunset is a spectacular sight. The Kanyakumari Amman Temple and Gandhi Mandapam are the most popular and nearby tourist spots. Shopping is also another thing to do while you are in this holy beach. There a lot of accessories made up of shells, decorated shells, collection of variety of sands and jute bags etc are in abundance. Kanyakumari is very well connected by road, rail and air as the nearest city is Trivandrum which is just 85 km away.

Muttom Beach:

The famous beach at Muttom is located about 16 kms from Nagercoil and 32 kms from Kanyakumari. Muttom is famous for its beautiful landscaping and high rocks dipping into the sea at the beach-side. Be careful! The rocks on which tourists go to see the sea view are slippery and a number of fatal accidents have occurred over the past few years. So avoid those rocks and don't cross the fences.

Sanguthurai Beach

Sanguthurai Beach is one of the nicest beaches that you should go to, during your visit to India. Sanguthurai Beach is located in the southernmost part of India and you can feel the fierce power of the Indian Ocean there. However, Sanguthurai Beach is a pretty tranquil place with white sand beaches that sets a perfect background to the coastline. It is also possible to see Vivekananda Rock from here in the coastline of Sanguthurai Beach. You can also see a white pillar protruding from the sea at Sanguthurai Beach. In addition its lukewarm temperature is perfect for swimming especially in the summer time.

Chothavilai beach

The Chothavilai beach is one among the most important beaches in the district of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The beach here stretches over 4 km which make it one among the longest beaches in Tamil Nadu. It is about 10 km from Kanyakumari; close to Sanguthurai beach.Shallow water makes Chothavilai ideal for swimming. With high sand dunes in the background and an endless aqua blue sea stretching into distance, the few hours spent at this beach will be truly memorable. It is also one among the most seriously affected areas of the district during the 2004 Tsunami. The beach was reconstructed and refurbished to attract visitors again.

Thengapattinam Beach

Thengapattinam Beach is 54 kms from Kanyakumari. This place is easily accessible by road. Buses travel from Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil to the beach frequently. Nagercoil is a small town close to the Thengapattinam beach. It had well connected to other places with regular bus services.The beautiful beach is located in Painkulam village and is adorned with lush coconut grooves. Situated on the west coast, this village has some historical relevance. During the ancient times, the village was an important place for trade with foreign countries. Between Thengapattinam and other countries like Arabia, cargo services were available. The water of the Thamiraparani River forms an estuary in the sea. With boat riding and backwater facilities, the beach serves as an important location for excursions and picnics.
