» Ramanathaswamy Temple:
Ramanathaswamy Temple - Rameshwaram tourism offers an excellent opportunity to marvel the exquisite architecture of Ramanathaswamy Temple. Specimen of late Dravidian architecture, Ramanathaswamy temple was built in the 12 century AD. It is world famed for its magnificently sculpted pillars and corridors with elaborative design, carving and style. As per the legends, Lord Rama sanctified this place by offering prayers to Lord Shiva after his victory over demon ruler Ravana. Only Hindus have permission to enter the inner sanctum of the shrine.
» Kothandaramaswamy temple, Dhanushkodi:
Tucked 8 km away from Rameshwaram, Dhanushkodi got its name after Lord Rama's bow –‘Dhanush’. The place is home to Kothandaramaswamy temple which was completely destroyed in 1964 by the terrible cyclones. It treasures graceful statues of Lord Rama, Sita, Hanuman, Lakshmana and Vibhishana.
» Adam's Bridge:
Another place of interest not be missed on Rameshwaram tours is Adam's bridge. It is a chain of reefs, islets and sandbanks, connecting India with Sri Lanka. According to legends, this series of steeping stones was used by Hanuman to chase Ravana when he rescued Sita, consort of Rama.
» Gandhamadana Parvatam :
The stepped mandapam or hall, about a mile and a half west of the Ramanathaswamy Temple offers a breath-taking view of the island. The footprint enshrined here is believed to be of Lord Rama.
