Beach Resort in Kanyakumari - AVE Resort, Kanyakumari Resort, Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu

Elliot’s Beach

This beach is one of the most pristine beaches in Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai. This beach is a favorite spot for families as well as youth because of its calm ambience and low tides. Waves are so gentle that everyone can indulge in the joy of playing with the naughty waves splashing on our legs. It is located in Besant Nagar in Chennai to the south of Marina beach. Also known as the Besant Nagar beach, the famous Karl Schimidt Memorial seen in many south Indian movies is situated here. It is named after a Dutch sailor. The sight of the memorial in evenings is truly a beautiful one. Other places to visit nearby are Ashtalakshmi temple and Velankanni Church. Sea bathing is safe here because of the calm sea. This beach is an ideal one for those tourists who wants a sun bath and a sea bath. The Ashtalakshmi Temple is around 20 years old and has modern style architecture. It is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and appears different from the rest of the Temples in South India. On the other hand, Velanganni Church is more of a pilgrim place for the Christians. The structure is smaller than the one at Velanganni. In addition, there is the Schmidt Memorial, which is dedicated to a Dutch sailor, who lost his life while saving a drowning fellow. It is one of the most notable landmarks on the famous beach.
Rameswaram Beach

Rameshwaram is a holy destination situated in the Pamban Island which is not in the Indian main land. This beautiful holy island is connected to the mainland by the Pamban Bridge which is India’s first sea bridge and second longest sea bridge. Srilanka is just 18 miles away from Dhanushkodi which is the very tip of this island. Rameshwaram is surrounded by the Palk Strait and the Gulf of Mannar which is on the very pretty Bay of Bengal. The tranquil sea is very shallow and the beach is uncrowded which makes it a perfect beach for swimming and sun bathing. Another main reason to visit this beach is to explore the wide varieties of marine species and coral reefs found here. You can also spot frolicking dolphins in the clear blue water. The golden sandy shore is dotted by varied and beautiful shells which lightens the color of the golden sand to a whitish one. Rameshwaram is more of a pilgrim center than a beach destination. According to Hindu Mythology, Lord Rama along with Hanuman and his friends constructed a bridge from Dhanushkodi to Mannar Island in Srilanka to rescue his beloved wife Devi Sita. Rameshwaram is where Rama and his friends stayed before the war with King Ravana and this is the same place where Rama sat and worshipped Lord Shiva to absolve the sin of killing Ravana. Thus it is a major pilgrim center in India. Ramanathaswamy Temple is visited by millions of visitors every year. This ancient temple consists of 1200 gigantic granite columns and a 54 meter high temple gopuram. Another wonder in this temple is that of 22 wells each well’s water tasting different. Agnitheertham and Dhanushkodi are other famous spots. Rameshwaram is well connected by road, rail and air. Nearest airport is Madurai airport which is 173 km away. The holy city has connection through rail to all major cities including Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore and Trichy. Regular bus services are also there from these cities to Rameshwaram throughout the day.
